- Spinning Colors Shows Heart in the Yaddo
Photo Credit: Dave Harmon, The Saratoga Special Bourbon Lane Stable’s Spinning Colors turned in a courageous performance yesterday at Saratoga, finishing third in the $150,000 Yaddo Stakes, a 1 1/16-mile turf contest for New York-bred fillies and mares ages 3 and up. - Alan Henry Reflects on a Dream Come True
When we think of the most unforgettable moments in horse racing, few compare to the magic of Saratoga. For Bourbon Lane partner Alan Henry, a long-held dream was realized when he found himself in the winner’s circle at the prestigious track—alongside his son, Jared, and the entire Bourbon Lane team. Alan shares this deeply personal reflection on that moment: "Mike: I should have written this letter sooner, but here it is now. I want to thank you for turning what was, to me, an impossible 40-year fantasy into reality. That is, to be in the winners circle at Saratoga with my son for a stakes win with a horse he owns a part of, and with an entire team that feels more like a family than a business partnership. And to have all that with Bill Parsons’ home-bred makes it all the more special. Ok, the fantasy used to be that it was my horse, but I was thrilled to pass that prospect on to Jared years ago. Jared knows quite well that this is not a game for boys in short pants, but evolving decades-long relationships with the McMahons, Hennigs, Jamie and the rest of the Bourbon Lane team — built on respect and trust -- make it, for him (and for me) just one big beautiful thing. (OK, let’s keep the big beautiful bill out of this!) I know Spinning Colors’ win at Saratoga was just a single moment in time, but it crystallized half a lifetime of dreams for me, and at least half a lifetime of dreams for Jared, too. And now comes the best part of Thoroughbred horse ownership, as best described by Carly Simon. Anticipation, anticipationIs makin' me lateIs keepin' me waitin’ I thank you, in major part, for all of that, and I look forward to our paths crossing again soon. Alan" For Alan, this victory wasn’t just about the stakes win at Saratoga. It was about the culmination of a lifelong dream, a dream he shared with his son, Jared, and a deep-rooted partnership with the Bourbon Lane team. Their journey is a testament to the power of trust, family, and a shared love for the sport. At Bourbon Lane, we are proud to be part of turning dreams into reality and helping our partners build unforgettable memories. keywords: bloodstock agent, bloodstock, horse racing, thoroughbred partnership, horse racing partnership, racehorses, saratoga, mike mcmahon, pinhooking, pinhook partnership, saratoga springs, saratoga racecourse, jamie hill, mark hennig, stakes winner, stakes horse, bloodstock agent

- 2025 OBS April Sale - Recap
The Ocala Breeders' Sales April 2-Year-Olds in Training Sale has long been known for uncovering future stars—and this year, McMahon & Hill Bloodstock wrapped up another successful edition with eight horses sold and two exciting new additions. A Top Seller Headlines Our Consignments Leading the charge on the sales front was one of the standout fillies of the entire sale. In partnership with Hidden Brook, we had acquired a powerful daughter of Constitution for $215,000 at the Fasig-Tipton October Yearling Sale. Just six months later, that same filly commanded $675,000 at OBS. Strategic pinhooks like this are what we pride ourselves on—seeing the potential, developing the horse, and realizing strong returns for our partners. New Ocala Training Division Makes a Winning Debut This sale also marked a milestone for our team: for the first time, McMahon of Saratoga Thoroughbreds consigned and trained horses from their new Ocala division which has been a major collaboration between Mike and his father Joe. The debut couldn’t have gone better. We sold six McMahon Thoroughbreds-bred juveniles, led by a sharp Combatant filly who brought $135,000. Congratulations to our dedicated home team on a strong and successful first run. The Ocala base is officially open for business and already proving its value. Smart Buys for Big Ambitions On the purchasing side, we were selective and deliberate—securing just two horses, but both with exceptional upside. First, we acquired Hip 66 for $180,000 on behalf of MyWay Racing, longtime clients and the proud owners of graded stakes winner El Potente, another McMahon & Hill graduate. This colt will head to the barn of Dan Blacker, who capped a breakout 2024 season with a Breeders’ Cup win and continues to climb the ranks. Then, late in the sale, we secured a flashy Charlatan filly for $100,000—Hip 960—for Jim Gladden and Bourbon Lane. Holding out for the right opportunity proved worthwhile. This filly checks all the boxes and will head to the red-hot Ian Wilkes barn, who will be making an appearance in the 2025 Kentucky Derby and winning at an impressive clip. This is a partnership we’re truly excited about, and it’s still open for new partners. If you’re interested in joining a stable with real momentum, now’s the time to reach out. Looking Ahead As we wrap OBS April, we’re energized by the results and even more excited for what’s to come. With smart sales, promising new purchases, and a growing presence in Ocala, McMahon & Hill Bloodstock continues to raise the bar for our partners and clients. - New Stakes Winner: Bourbon Memory Stays Perfect!
Bourbon Memory has officially added stakes winner to her resume! The talented filly kept her perfect record intact with a gutsy victory in the $125,000 Serena’s Song Stakes at Turfway Park on March 29, marking her fourth win in as many starts and pushing her career earnings to $156,903. In a thrilling stretch battle, Bourbon Memory showed her heart and determination, dueling Family all the way to the wire to win by a head in a sharp 1:10.17 for six furlongs over Turfway’s all-weather surface. Ridden to victory by Gerardo Corrales, she broke sharply, took control early, and fought every step of the way to secure the win. A daughter of Spendthrift Farm’s Bolt d’Oro out of the Empire Maker mare Take a Memo , Bourbon Memory was a savvy $27,000 purchase by McMahon & Hill Bloodstock from Hunter Valley Farm at the 2023 Keeneland September Yearling Sale. She made her debut late in 2024, capturing a maiden special weight at Turfway before returning to dominate a starter allowance in January and an allowance optional in early March—all leading up to her big moment in the Serena’s Song Stakes. We couldn’t be more excited about this filly’s future! Co-owned by our Bourbon Lane Stable partners alongside Seidman Stables, All My Heart Racing, Fergus Galvin, and Carl Barry, and expertly trained by Brendan Walsh, Bourbon Memory is proving to be an absolute standout.
