EL POTENTE once again proved his class on the turf, delivering a dominant performance in the Grade 3 Thunder Road Stakes at Santa Anita Park, powering home by 3 ¾ lengths in impressive fashion.
Purchased by McMahon & Hill Bloodstock for $35,000 at the 2021 OBS 2-Year-Olds in Training Sale on behalf of My Way Racing and trainer Dan Blacker.
The 7-year-old son of Temple City has grown into a model of consistency and durability, becoming a multiple graded stakes winner while hitting the board in 12 of 17 career starts and earning more than $344,000.
After enjoying success in last year’s edition of the Grade 3 Thunder Road Stakes, El Potente returned this season looking to defend his title. He made his comeback in November with a strong third-place finish in the Grade 2 Seabiscuit Handicap at Del Mar, followed by a solid fourth in the Grade 2 Joe Hernandez Stakes at Santa Anita last time out.
El Potente’s continued success is a testament to the patience, horsemanship, and planning behind the scenes. Trained by longtime McMahon & Hill partner Dan Blacker, the gelding has been carefully managed throughout his career, allowing him to thrive year after year at the highest level.
We congratulate the entire team on another outstanding achievement and look forward to what lies ahead for this remarkable horse!
