  • Glamour Tcycoon Sells to Nearco Stud for NZD 375,000

Listed Stakes winner and G3 placed mare Glamour Tycoon has been sold through gavelhouse.com to Nearco Stud for NZD 375,000. Purchased for the 2022 Bourbon Lane New Zealand, LLC for NZD 220,000 as a yearling, Glamour Tycoon went on to earn over NZD 300,000 in prize money. A two time Listed Stakes winner, she wrapped up her racing career earlier this season with an impressive third in the NZD 140,000 G3 Sweynesse Stakes, followed by a win in a NZD 50,000 Open Handicap at Tauranga. She has been a wonderfully consistent filly throughout her career, and we are delighted she will remain in New Zealand under the ownership of Nearco Stud, with their mares based at Curraghmore. We look forward to following her next chapter as a broodmare. A sincere thank you to our partners for their continued support, as well as to Stephen Marsh and his team for managing Glamour Tycoon so well throughout her racing career. • Bourbon Betty Breaks Maiden at Aqueduct

Bourbon Betty made a strong statement in her turf debut, breaking her maiden in impressive fashion in a Maiden Special Weight at Aqueduct last week on April 16th. The 3-year-old filly went straight to the front and never looked back. She showed determination down the stretch, steadily extending her advantage to win by a comfortable margin. After a challenging first start over a sloppy dirt track at Gulfstream, she bounced back with confidence and proved she was ready to roll on the grass. Bourbon Betty is part of our 2025 U.S. Two-Year-Old Partnership and was purchased for $90,000 at last spring’s OBS March Sale. By Mendelssohn, she hails from a successful turf family, and we’re excited to see what the rest of the summer holds for her. Congratulations to our partners Bourbon Lane Stable, David Hampson, and Old Guys Rules Racing Stables on the victory. Wins like this are what partnership racing is all about. If you’re interested in joining our Bourbon Lane Partnerships, we’d love to connect and help you get involved with future runners. A special thank you to trainer Mark Hennig and his team, along with jockey Jose Lezcano, for guiding Bourbon Betty to the winner’s circle.

  • OBS April Recap - Pinhook Success & Purchases for clients including the 2026 Bourbon Lane Two-Year-Old LLC

The OBS April Sale was a busy week for us, with a mix of rewarding pinhook results and some exciting additions for our program. Twirling Candy - The Bull Unbridled We were especially pleased with our Twirling Candy filly for the 2025 M&H Pinhook LLC, who sold for $250,000. We purchased her for $130,000 at last year’s Fasig Tipton October Sale, and she continued to progress throughout the winter. After breezing a solid 10.1, she really put everything together physically and attracted strong interest, ultimately selling to West Point Thoroughbreds. We were also active buying, adding two fillies to the 2026 Bourbon Lane Two-Year-Old LLC we are very excited about, one by Drain the Clock for $150,000 and another by Volatile for $130,000. Both fillies had outstanding works and showed themselves well all week. The Volatile filly will head to Keeneland to train with Ben Colebrook, while the Drain the Clock filly joins Ian Wilkes at Churchill Downs. The Drain the Clock is a strong, forward dirt type, while the Volatile filly is a fluid mover who looks like she will have options going two turns on dirt or turf. Click here to view the pedigree for Drain the Clock - Big Carat Click here to view the pedigree for Volatile - Bemus Point In addition, we secured two fillies for our clients training with Dan Blacker, a Temple City filly for $75,000 and an Oscar Performance filly for $225,000. The Temple City filly will join the same ownership as El Potente, who we purchased at the OBS June Sale in 2021. He has gone on to be a two-time Grade 3 winner and Grade 2 placed. Overall, it was a productive and encouraging sale on both the buying and selling side, and we are looking forward to the next two-year-old sale in Maryland in just a few weeks. Partnership Opportunities For the 2026 Bourbon Lane Two-Year-Old LLC, the minimum buy-in is $10,000, allowing partners to participate in ownership while sharing in the costs and experience of racing a young horse. For more information about the partnership or to inquire about joining, please contact Bourbon Lane Stable. • The 2026 Bourbon Lane NZ LLC Secures Two Outstanding Fillies at the Inglis Easter Sale

Mike and Jamie have just returned from a successful trip to the Inglis Easter Yearling Sale in Australia, where the goal was to secure at least one more exceptional filly for the 2026 Bourbon Lane New Zealand LLC. We are pleased to share that we exceeded expectations, coming home with two outstanding additions to the team. Our first purchase, Lot 36 , is a striking filly by Zoustar, the same sire as our own Queen Zou, pictured below winning the Group 2 Rich Hill Mile earlier this year. She immediately stood out for her presence, pedigree, and athleticism, all qualities we consistently look for when identifying future stars. Zoustar was crowned Champion Australian Sire for the 2024 and 2025 season and continues to deliver elite level performance year after year. He boasts an outstanding 69% winners to runners strike rate and has amassed more than $165 million in progeny earnings, along with 75 stakes winners, including 11 at Group 1 level. We rounded out the sale with a powerful filly by Written Tycoon, Lot 220 , who strongly resembles Velocious (pictured below), the Stephen Marsh trained Champion Two-Year-Old in New Zealand. She is strong, balanced, and full of quality, an exciting prospect with all the attributes of a high-class filly. Written Tycoon has been a key sire for Stephen Marsh, producing many of his stable stars, including champion Velocious and recent Group 1 winner Well Written. A proven force at the elite level, he has sired 18 Group 1 winners among his 76 stakes winners. He is also the sire of our own Tale of the Gypsy, who performed admirably at the elite level, finishing fourth in the Group 1 Sistema Stakes. These two fillies join an already impressive group of 10 yearlings we secured at Karaka and Magic Millions earlier this year, forming an exciting lineup for this partnership. If you haven't already joined us, there's still time to get involved! Beyond the quality of the horses, what truly sets this experience apart is the partnership itself. Being involved in our New Zealand program with Stephen Marsh offers owners a genuine behind the scenes experience, with regular communication and insights directly from the stable. Combined with the camaraderie of a passionate ownership group and the opportunity to enjoy racing in New Zealand, it becomes far more than an investment. It is an experience.

  • Bourbon Flight Breaks Maiden at Turfway Park

Bourbon Flight  showed plenty of determination on March 12, battling all the way to the wire to break his maiden at Turfway Park. The 4-year-old fought hard through the stretch, digging deep in the final strides to get up by a head and secure his first career victory. It was a gritty effort and a rewarding result for his connections after continuing to develop and progress with racing. Bourbon Flight is part of our 2023 U.S. Yearling Partnership, and wins like this are exactly what makes the partnership experience so rewarding. Watching these horses grow, develop, and ultimately make their way to the winner’s circle is what ownership is all about. Congratulations to our partners Bourbon Lane Stable and Six Column Stables, LLC on the victory. A big thank you to trainer Ian R. Wilkes and his team, as well as jockey Irving Moncada, for helping guide Bourbon Flight to the winner’s circle.

  • Bourbon Notes Breaks Maiden at Gulfstream Park

Bourbon Notes  delivered a determined performance to break her maiden at Gulfstream Park, digging deep in the final strides to get up by a head for trainer Ian Wilkes. The 3-year-old filly settled just off the early pace before launching her run in the stretch, responding gamely to edge clear on the wire. It was a gritty effort that showed both maturity and determination as she finished strongly to secure the win. Bourbon Notes was purchased for $100,000 at the OBS April Sale as part of our 2025 U.S. 2-Year-Old Partnership. After being lightly raced as a 2-year-old, she entered this season coming off a nearly four-month layoff. The time away appears to have done her well, allowing her to settle mentally and continue developing physically. She has trained forwardly since returning and showed that progress in the afternoon with this breakthrough performance. She is by Charlatan, a Grade 1-winning son of Speightstown who captured both the Arkansas Derby and Malibu Stakes during his racing career. Known for his exceptional speed and brilliance on the track, Charlatan has generated strong interest as a young stallion, with his early runners beginning to make their presence felt. Bourbon Notes is out of Defy, a stakes-winning daughter of Into Mischief, one of the most influential sires in North America and a consistent leader on the general sire list. Following the win, Bourbon Notes will ship back to Kentucky with the Ian Wilkes string as we begin planning for her next start this spring. Congratulations to our partners Bourbon Lane Stable, Jim Gladden, and Old Guys Rule Racing Stable, and thank you to Ian Wilkes and his team for getting her to the winner’s circle. Our Bourbon Lane 2026 U.S. 2-Year-Old Partnership is now open. If you are interested in joining the winning fun, contact us to learn more about getting involved. • Bourbon Lane Stable Adds First Horse to 2026 U.S. 2-Year-Old Partnership

Bourbon Lane Stable has purchased the first horse for the 2026 U.S. 2-Year-Old Partnership, securing a New York-bred colt by Practical Joke for $125,000 at the OBS March Sale. The colt was purchased from the consignment of de Meric Sales after breezing :10.0 during the under tack show. A big, strong colt, he showed plenty of athleticism during his breeze and stood out to the team during inspections. He will now head to the barn of trainer Mark Hennig to continue his development. He is by Practical Joke, a Grade 1-winning sire whose runners have shown both speed and versatility on the track. He is out of the Unified mare Fancy Bluff , and the family traces back to Grade 1 winner Dunbar Road, a multiple Grade 1 performer who finished second in the Breeders’ Cup Distaff. The OBS March Sale is the first major 2-year-old sale of the season and gives buyers the opportunity to evaluate horses that have already gone through early training and breezed during the under tack show. This colt becomes the first addition to Bourbon Lane’s 2026 U.S. 2-Year-Old Partnership, with the team continuing to evaluate additional prospects throughout the spring sales. Partnership Opportunities The minimum buy-in is $10,000, allowing partners to participate in ownership while sharing in the costs and experience of racing a young horse. • McMahon & Hill Pinhooks Bolt d'Oro filly for $300,000

A successful pinhook result came out of the Ocala Breeders’ Sales March 2-Year-Olds in Training Sale for McMahon & Hill Bloodstock and partners this week! Pinhooked in partnership with LNS, Hidden Brook, and partners, our filly by Bolt d’Oro sold for $300,000 after originally being purchased as a yearling for $52,000. The filly impressed buyers during the under tack show, breezing a sharp :21.2, and generated strong interest throughout the sale. She was purchased by Carlos Morales, agent for Osiris Racing Stable, and will now head into training with her new connections. Results like this highlight the value of identifying the right individuals early and giving them the opportunity to showcase their ability at the right time. Congratulations to all of the partners involved in the pinhooking partnership with LNS and Hidden Brook, and best of luck to the filly’s new connections moving forward. • McMahon & Hill Adds Two Fillies on Day 1 of OBS March

The OBS March Sale of 2-Year-Olds in Training is underway in Ocala, Florida, marking the first major juvenile auction of the year. Following last week’s under tack show, where young horses breeze for prospective buyers, the sale annually attracts leading trainers, bloodstock agents, and owners looking for early prospects for the racetrack. On the opening day of the OBS sale, McMahon & Hill Bloodstock secured two fillies by Midshipman and Cyberknife to begin their 2026 2-year-old purchases. The team first went to $50,000 to purchase Hip 111, a Kentucky-bred filly by Midshipman  from the consignment of J V C Training and Sales. The filly breezed a sharp :10.1 during the under tack show and impressed the team with her strength and overall physical. The purchase marks the first independent purchase for longtime partner and friend Mark Sullivan, who has been involved with the team for many years. Later in the session, McMahon & Hill purchased Hip 225 for $100,000 on behalf of Kinnze Thoroughbreds a New York-bred filly by Cyberknife from the consignment of Niall Brennan Stables. She is from the first crop of Cyberknife, whose juveniles have generated considerable interest at the sale. Kinnze Thoroughbreds primarily races on the New York circuit, and we hope to see this filly in Saratoga this summer! The OBS March Sale continues throughout the week in Ocala, with McMahon & Hill remaining active to purchase for private clients and Bourbon Lane Stable.

  • On the Road to the 2-Year-Old Sales

The spring 2-year-old sales mark one of the most important stretches on the Thoroughbred calendar. Over the next several months, McMahon & Hill Bloodstock will be on the grounds at the OBS March Two-Year-Olds in Training Sale, OBS Spring Sale of Two-Year-Olds in Training, and the Fasig-Tipton Midlantic Two-Year-Olds in Training Sale. We are shopping for the Bourbon Lane US 2-Year-Old Partnership and for private clients who are looking to add quality racehorses to their stables. What Makes the 2-Year-Old Sales Different Unlike yearling purchases, these horses have already begun training. They have breezed under tack. They have shown how they move, how they handle pressure, and how they carry their speed. We evaluate: Balance and structural correctness Stride efficiency and mechanics Physical maturity with room to develop Mental composure and professionalism From there, we move into detailed veterinary due diligence. Radiographs, scopes, and consultations with trusted veterinarians are essential parts of the decision-making process. We are not chasing headlines or one-time performances. We are buying racehorses built to stand training and compete. OBS March: Early Opportunity The OBS March Sale traditionally offers a more select group of horses and can be a strong source of early runners. This sale often appeals to buyers looking for horses capable of getting to the races during their 2-year-old season. With smaller numbers, it allows us to focus closely on individuals who meet our physical and veterinary standards. OBS April: Depth and Discipline The OBS Spring Sale of Two-Year-Olds in Training is one of the largest 2-year-old sales in the world. The volume creates opportunity, but it also demands discipline. We will spend days reviewing breezes, watching horses multiple times, studying pedigrees, and narrowing down a manageable shortlist before vetting. Fasig-Tipton Midlantic: Proven Source of Talent The Fasig-Tipton Midlantic Two-Year-Olds in Training Sale in Timonium has consistently produced high-level racehorses. This sale offers another chance to secure athletic, sound individuals who fit the goals of both our partnership model and private racing stables. Each marketplace behaves a little differently. Understanding those nuances allows us to position our clients effectively. Building the Bourbon Lane US 2-Year-Old Partnership For the Bourbon Lane US Partnership, our objective remains consistent: Acquire competitive prospects Balance early opportunity with long-term potential Maintain transparency and access for partners We are buying with a plan in place from day one, including trainer alignment, portfolio strategy, and realistic timelines. Serving Private Clients In addition to partnership purchases, we are actively sourcing horses tailored to individual client goals. Some are looking for: 2-year-olds who can get to the races this season Horses with long-term development upside Athletes suited for specific racing programs Individuals that fit a particular trainer or campaign plan There is no one-size-fits-all approach. The right horse is the one that aligns with the owner’s vision and timeline. Looking Ahead Over the coming weeks, we will be sharing updates from the sales grounds, shortlists in progress, and acquisitions for both Bourbon Lane and our private clients. If you are interested in participating in the Bourbon Lane US 2-Year-Old Partnership or discussing a private acquisition strategy, we welcome the conversation.
