Aftercare for our horses
We strive to find forever homes for our horses. Since the beginning of Bourbon Lane Stable, we have re-homed our equine athletes. Some have been able to move on to second careers as pleasure riding horses, breeding stock, or for those not sound enough or unable to breed have been retired to our own pasture at Old Friends. Old Friends is a retirement facility for Thoroughbred race horses that have come to the end of their racing and breeding careers. In May of 2013, Bourbon Lane Stable established a retirement pasture for any of our horses that need a forever home. One of our own, Johannesbourbon, resides at Old Friends living out his days in happiness and safety.
A FEW OF OUR FRIENDS
Quiero Bourbon is now an event horse, winning blue ribbons left and right.
Justonemorebourbon is now living the life as a companion and pleasure riding horse for his new owner in North Carolina.
Thank you to all the organizations that work to find new careers for Thoroughbred race horses.
In January 2016 Bourbon Lane Stable was awarded the Allaire duPont Leadership award at the annual TCA Stallion Season Auction.
“Bourbon Lane Stable and the Thoroughbred Incentive Program have made tremendous contributions to Thoroughbred aftercare,” said Dan Rosenberg, president of TCA. “Bourbon Lane is a shining example of responsible ownership and TIP has successfully worked to increase demand for off-track Thoroughbreds by incentivizing and rewarding owners. Both of their efforts speak to the mission of Thoroughbred Charities of America and for that we are very appreciative.”
